Privacy Policy

Gangkar · Last updated: May 13, 2026

This policy describes how the Gangkar learning application (iOS app and web app) handles information when you use it. By using the app, you agree to this policy.

Who we are

Gangkar is an educational app for learning Tibetan script and vocabulary. For questions about this policy or your data, contact hello.boepa@gmail.com.

Information we collect

Account and profile (if you sign in). We use Google Firebase Authentication. Depending on how you sign in, we may process:

Social features. If you use community or friend features, we store related data in our database (for example friend requests and connections between user accounts).

Analytics. We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate (for example which lessons are opened and which features are used). Events are linked to your Firebase user ID. We do not use this data for advertising and do not share it with data brokers. The app does not use Apple's IDFA and does not request the App Tracking Transparency prompt.

Diagnostic and crash data. When something goes wrong, we record a diagnostic event containing the error message, stack trace, app version, browser/device user agent, current in-app URL, and your Firebase user ID (when signed in). This helps us find and fix bugs.

Data on your device. Practice progress, session history, and similar data may be stored locally on your device (for example in IndexedDB and browser storage) so the app works offline and loads quickly.

Technical data. Like most online services, our providers (see below) receive standard technical information when you use the app, such as IP address, device/browser type, and timestamps, as needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use information

Where data is processed

We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and related services) to host accounts and synced data. Firebase operates in accordance with Google’s terms and privacy policies. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where Google operates infrastructure.

Third-party services

Retention and deletion

We keep account and profile information while your account exists and as needed to provide the service. You can delete your account directly in the app from the profile settings. You may also request deletion of your data by contacting us at the email above. Local data on your device can be cleared by deleting the app.

Children

The app is intended for learners of all ages who use it with appropriate consent. If you believe we have collected personal information from a child without proper consent, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
